The Eighty-Eighth Resource Libray

The Eighty-Eighth Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment has a rich history of service to our country. We've broken the Resource Library into three subsections to make it easier to sort through and find information.  Some of  history of the regiment was documented in newspapers which provides insight on the regiment during the war years and beyond. This information can be found under the subsection, The Eighty-Eighth Newspaper Articles.

Documents from the State and National Archives as well as other documents can be found under The Eighty-Eighth Document subsection and includes documents from soldiers military and pension files as well as other resources.

The third subsection contains information from and about Private John D. Vautier, Co. I. John Vautier used his diary to keep track of the daily life of the soldiers of the 88th Pennsylvania Volunteers and in 1894 published the book, "The History of the 88th Pennsylvania Volunteers" . Two of John D. Vautier's descendants are members of our group.

A second book on the 88th Pennsylvania was published in 2010 by Major Mike N. Ayoub a descendant of Captain Charles McKnight, Co. K. entitled  "The Campfire Chronicles, The Words and Deeds of the 88th Pennsylvania" and uses the accounts from the diary of Charles McMcKnight, and of soldiers from the 88th Pennsylvania to tell their story.
